Born 1716 near Buxton, Derbyshire

Moved to Leek in 1726

In 1733 he started an apprenticeship with Abraham Bennet

Died 27th September 1772

In September 1772, at the age of 56, Brindley was surveying the Caldon canal and got soaked to the skin.
He caught a chill and then got taken to an inn and put in a damp bed.
Brindley became seriously ill, and died on the 27th September 1772
